Not every colony needs a lot of space. At the start, it is far more important to have a suitably sized nest that will give the ants a sense of security and the right conditions for them to thrive.

MK II Koki Kanion is the smallest model in the Kanion range. Despite its compact size, it features chambers as high as 24 mm, making it ideal for species that do not feel comfortable in standard, low nests.

Perfect for those starting out in breeding

Koki Canyon was created primarily with the following in mind:

• young ant colonies of the subfamily Ponerinae,
• species requiring larger chambers,
• breeders who start developing a colony from a small nest.

The smaller volume means that the ants colonise all the chambers more quickly, which often results in greater comfort and a greater sense of security for the colony.

A natural interior designed to your own specifications

The filling is made from high-quality gypsum, which absorbs moisture very effectively and helps to maintain the right microclimate inside the nest.

You can also finish the interior with a surface of your choice, such as:

• desert sand,
• coconut fibre,
• fine gravel,
• other safe substrate suited to the requirements of the species being reared.

This will help you recreate your ants’ natural habitat even more effectively.

Koki Canyon is part of the MK II system, so you can easily combine it with arenas, additional socket modules and accessories from this range.

It’s an excellent choice as a first hive, which can easily be expanded in the future as the colony grows.
