MK II Julka Kanion is a compact plaster nest measuring 10×5 cm with raised chambers 24 mm high. It has been designed for species that prefer more space, such as ants from the subfamily Ponerinae, as well as for small colonies of other species. The ability to fill the chambers yourself with sand or coconut fibre allows you to create an environment perfectly suited to the needs of the ants you are keeping. Fully compatible with the MK II system.

More space in a compact design

Not every colony needs a large nest, but many species require taller chambers.

MK II Julka Kanion is a smaller version of the Kanion nest, which retains its greatest advantage – chambers as high as 24 mm. This means that even small colonies of species that prefer spacious interiors can thrive in suitable conditions, without taking up too much space in the formicarium.

Ideal for small colonies of species with specific requirements

The Julka Kanion is ideal as a first or subsequent nest for:

ants of the subfamily Ponerinae,
species that prefer high chambers,
young colonies that do not yet need a large module.

The smaller size of the nest encourages the colony to settle in more quickly, whilst providing a comfortable amount of space.

Create an interior tailored to your ants

The filling is made from high-quality gypsum, which effectively stores moisture and helps to maintain the right microclimate inside the nest.

You can also finish the compartments with a surface of your choice, e.g.:

desert sand,
coconut fibre,
fine gravel,
another safe substrate suitable for the species being kept.

This makes it possible to recreate the ants’ natural habitat even more accurately.

Component of the MK II modular system

Julka Kanion is part of the MK II system, so you can easily connect it to arenas, additional socket modules and other accessories from this range.

As your colony grows, you can gradually expand the entire formicarium whilst ensuring that all components remain fully compatible.
