The MK II Kuba Kanion is a plaster nest measuring 10×10 cm with chambers as high as 24 mm, designed for species that prefer spacious interiors. It is ideal for ants from the subfamily Ponerinae, but also for many other species for which standard chambers are simply too low. You can finish the interior yourself with your choice of substrate, e.g. desert sand or coconut fibre. Fully compatible with the MK II system.

The MK II Kuba Kanion was designed for breeders who need more than just a standard nest box. We have fitted it with raised compartments 24 mm high, ensuring that the interior offers considerably greater freedom of movement and flexibility in layout.

It is an excellent choice for ants from the subfamily Ponerinae, but it will work just as well for many other species that prefer taller chambers or a greater amount of substrate.

A natural interior designed to your own specifications

The filling is made of high-quality gypsum, which absorbs moisture very effectively and helps to maintain the right microclimate inside the nest.

In addition, you can line the compartments yourself with your favourite material, e.g.:

desert sand,
coconut fibre (coconut peat),
fine gravel,
another safe substrate suited to the requirements of the species being reared.

This makes it easy for you to create an environment that is even closer to nature.

MK II system component

Kuba Kanion is part of the MK II modular system, so you can easily connect it to arenas, additional nests and other accessories from this range. As your colony grows, you can easily expand the entire formicarium without having to replace any existing components.
