Nhandu chromatus, also known as the Brazil Striped tarantula, is an attractive ground-dwelling tarantula native to South America. Due to its distinctive appearance and relatively docile temperament, it is a popular choice among spider keepers.

Size: Females reach up to 9 cm in body length with a leg span of up to 16–17 cm, while males are smaller, around 6–7 cm.
Colouration: The dark abdomen is covered with red and rust-coloured hairs, the carapace may be grey or black, and the legs have contrasting white stripes.
Temperament: Despite its calm disposition, Nhandu chromatus can sometimes be aggressive and often defends itself by combing out its stinging hairs.
