Description

Sphagnum moss (Sphagnum) is a natural, highly absorbent substrate that is ideal for breeding a variety of terrarium animals, including spiders, isopods and ants. Its soft, springy structure ensures a high level of humidity in the tank, which is particularly important for species that require a stable microclimate. Thanks to its ability to retain water, sphagnum moss helps maintain adequate moisture in ant nests and arachnid hiding places, while preventing mould growth.

Another significant advantage of sphagnum moss is its natural origin – it does not contain any harmful chemical additives and can be used as a supplement or main substrate in various types of terrariums and formicariums. The structure of the moss allows for the creation of hiding places and makes it easier for animals to dig tunnels or build nests, which translates into their comfort and reduced stress.

In ant breeding, sphagnum moss is sometimes used in places where it comes into contact with water (e.g. near drinking troughs or humidifiers) and allows you to maintain constant humidity without the risk of flooding the nest. In arachnids, on the other hand, it promotes the creation of natural conditions and supports the moulting process by providing a suitable microclimate. Sphagnum moss is easy to use, as it only needs to be slightly moistened with water to increase in volume and retain moisture for a long time.
