Grammostola rosea, commonly known as the Chilean Rose, is an exceptionally gentle tarantula from the dry regions of Chile, recommended as the ideal first spider for beginners. It requires a small, rather dry terrarium and room temperature, and its pinkish-copper sheen adds an elegant touch to any collection. Terrarium & substrate

Keep the soil fairly dry. Lightly sprinkle one corner once or twice a month to prevent drying out, but do not increase the overall humidity.
Add a hiding place (half a coconut, cork bark). G. rosea often sits in open spaces, but the possibility of shelter reduces stress.

Temperature & lighting

Room temperature (22–24 °C) is usually sufficient; additional heating is only required in cool rooms.
This species does not require additional light – avoid direct sunlight to prevent the terrarium from overheating.

Feeding

Feed young ones (sling) small crickets or cockroaches every 5–6 days.
Adult females – 2–3 large crickets or cockroaches every 7–10 days.
G. rosea is known for periodic fasting lasting up to several months – this is normal, provided that the abdomen does not lose volume.

Moulting
