Description

Characteristics and natural environment of Davus pentaloris

Davus pentaloris is a ground-dwelling tarantula found mainly in the forests of Costa Rica. It is known for its ability to build small webs, which allows it to cope effectively in various environmental conditions.

Conditions for breeding Davus pentaloris

The terrarium for this tarantula should be adapted to its needs, with an appropriate layer of substrate allowing for digging and hiding places. The recommended dimensions are a minimum of 20x20x20 cm for young specimens, increasing to larger sizes for adults. Humidity and temperature should be closely monitored to avoid dry conditions, which are harmful to this species.

Diet and nutrition

Davus pentaloris is a moderately fast eater that prefers a varied diet. Young specimens are best fed small insects such as fruit flies, while adults can consume larger cockroaches. Regular feeding depends on the spider’s growth rate and activity.

Behaviour and temperament of Davus pentaloris

When young, Davus pentaloris is relatively calm, but with age it can become more dynamic and somewhat skittish. It is important not to disturb the spider during moulting, which is a crucial moment in its development.
