Description

Compressed coconut peat, 650g – a pure substrate base for terrariums and formicariums

Compressed coconut coir 650g is one of those products that’s simply worth keeping to hand, as it’s suitable for a wide range of uses in animal husbandry. It works well as a basic substrate for terrariums, as a base for mixes, and as a material that helps maintain stable humidity where it’s needed. Once soaked, the block expands significantly in volume, so you get a generous amount of ready-to-use substrate from a single pack.

Detailed product description

When soaked, coconut coir creates a light, springy growing medium with good water absorption. In practice, this means:

  • it is easier to maintain the right level of humidity in the terrarium,

  • the ground is suitable for digging and securing hiding places,

  • It works well as a base for other decorations, such as sand, coconut flakes or moss.

In the keeping of bird-eating tarantulas, coconut peat is often the preferred choice, as it allows for the creation of a substrate layer suitable for both ground-dwelling and burrowing species. When properly prepared, it retains its structure, is not ‘sharp’, and works well in a terrarium.

In ant husbandry, coconut peat is mainly useful as a substrate component in the arena or in mixes when you want to improve moisture retention and achieve a natural look. It can also serve as a supplementary material in humid zones, depending on the setup.

Advantages

  • high yield – when soaked, the block significantly increases in volume

  • good moisture absorption and retention

  • an excellent base for potting mixes

  • convenient storage and portioning – the compressed block takes up little space

  • a natural look in the terrarium and in the arena

Features – Compressed coconut coir, 650 g

  • form: compressed block

  • intended use: terrariums and ant farms, base for mixtures

  • Features: absorbent, lightweight, easy to prepare

  • uses: for birdcages, for setting up an arena, to improve humidity in the setup

  • weight: 650 g

How to use

  1. Put the cube into the container.

  2. Pour in the water (3 litres) and wait for it to swell.

  3. Break up and loosen the soil.

  4. Adjust the moisture content – if you want it to be drier, let it dry out before use.

Tip: if you want a more breathable and less compact substrate, mix it with sand or coconut fibre.

If you’re setting up a terrarium or want a reliable, versatile base for substrate mixes in tarantula breeding and ant farm setups, compressed coconut peat 650 g is a very practical choice. It’s economical, easy to prepare and simply useful in most setups.
