MK II Nexus Irrigation Module

Description

Two functions. One module.

MK II Nexus is the most advanced auxiliary module in the MK II system. It was designed for breeders of large colonies and those working with species that reproduce through inbreeding.

At first glance, this is a module that holds 9 test tubes with a diameter of 16 mm. In practice, it can serve two completely different purposes – depending on how it is used.

A high-performance irrigation module for large colonies

Large colonies can consume very large amounts of water. Frequently replacing individual water dispensers can be a hassle and takes quite a long time.

Once you’ve placed nine test tubes of water in the Nexus, you’ll have a huge supply of moisture available to the colony. This means you’ll need to replace the test tubes much less often, and the ants will have a constant supply of fresh water for a long time.

This solution works particularly well with large, numerous colonies.

System for isolating new colonies

When using the MK II Vertical Mounting Connector (sold separately), the module can be attached to the formicarium in a vertical position.

In this configuration, First Step test tubes are inserted into the Nexus; when connected to the module, they create a natural habitat for the ants to colonise.

In species that reproduce via inbreeding, a new queen, together with her workers and offspring, can occupy one of the test tubes on her own. When the colony is ready to be split, simply remove the occupied test tube and replace it with another one.

MK II System Expansion Centre

The module is fitted with 8 MK II ports — two on each side.

This means the Nexus can be easily integrated into a comprehensive system comprising sockets, arenas and other MK II modules, creating a setup tailored to the needs of even the largest colonies.
