The Mini Arena MK II is a small but very practical module that makes the first stage of rearing easier – when the queen or a small colony is still living in a test tube. Instead of fiddling about with opening the test tube and feeding “on the fly”, you simply attach it to the mini arena, giving you convenient access for feeding and watering, whilst keeping everything tidy and safe.

This solution will be particularly useful when dealing with sensitive species, small colonies, and whenever cleanliness and control are a priority.

The mini arena measures 5×5 cm and has 3 MK II outputs, which means that:

you can connect the test tube and leave some spare ports for future use,
you can add a second module, such as a small additional arena or a nest,
and when the colony grows, simply expand the setup with a larger arena or any kit from the MK II series.

The set includes a test tube connector, which allows you to connect the tube securely and conveniently, as well as 2 caps, which you can use to seal unused ports and keep the system tidy.

The mini arena is ideal as a ‘bridge’ between the test tube and the final formicarium. The colony develops at its own pace, and you don’t have to force it to move. In practice, you feed the ants in the arena, keep it clean, monitor their development, and only expand it when it makes sense to do so.
